Builder

Choose your builder first. A qualified builder will have a list of references and homes he has built in the area. Check his references for quality of work, and was he on time and within budget. Using a builder that is familiar with you area will help, as each town has different codes and conditions. Sometimes projects can take 9-18 months to complete. Make sure you are compatible with the builder and have good path of communication to avoid problems down the road.

Architect

Next is picking the architect. Depending on your style, taste and budget the builder should be able to provide you with a list of architects to match your personality. The builder can offer his opinion on design applications to fit your style and or budget. Both people will help navigate you through the process to ensure that your vision translates on paper.

Lot Selection

The following criteria should be used for lot selection:

• Location, location, location.
• Is the lot you're choosing conducive to the lifestyle of you and your family?
• Is your lot located away from any major obstructions?
• The views of the home will be affected by the location of your lot? Make sure the architect knows the coordinates.
• Is there any slope or pitch to your property? That can effect the layout of the yard and construction of the home.

Cost

Once your plans are complete, the builder will manage the bid process of the home construction.

At this stage your builder will be dealing with tradesman, inspections, and the overall construction process. You will have weekly walk thrus to ensure the home is taking according to you vision. We build each home as if it was our own. We will be on site daily to ensure the quality of the tradesman meets our rigid standards.

Completion / Move In

Two weeks before you move in, we will walk the home to make sure everything is just right and working properly. Any questions or problems will be addressed in this time frame. We understand how stressful a move can be, so we try to make your transition as smooth as possible.

Follow up / Warranty

We will follow up with a check up two weeks after you move in. Courtyard Custom Homes will make sure you fully understand the features of your home and assist you with any requests you may have.
